Was talking to someone, they were comparing their AMG to their beigemobile Civic. OF COURSE a Civic won't handle as well as a RWD 2 door coupe... of course it will "never catch up to" the AMG... sheesh. Then they start hating on the Civic as if it's the worst car ever made and the AMG is God's gift to mankind... and people praise that.

On another somewhat related note, to just flat out hate against a car due to whether or not its FWD, AWD, 4WD, RWD, etc. is so ignorant. "Oh, I hate that car cause it's FWD. It needs to be RWD." Not every fucking car on the planet needs to cater to your needs... for many of us here we're enthusiasts and are quite respectful of each other's rides and opinions on cars but I have issues when a person starts badmouthing a car or platform or drivetrain, engine etc. just cause it isn't what they want it to be... *especially* if said person has never even driven or looked at that vehicle.

Sorry for a bit of a rant, and this wasn't directed at anyone here specifically. I respect how open we are about cars. I have issues when people seriously hate on things without logical reasoning. (There are exceptions, but that's cause some of those vehicles do not have any reasoning behind them... X6, ZDX, Accord Crosstour, Murano cross cabriolet, etc.)

What about jackasses that trash, say, one of the best bang for the buck cars in the past 20 years since it won't hold up against cars twice it's price?

There's an insane amount of ignorance in the LS1 T/A post on Jalop.

I think it can be summed up by people confusing what they don't want with what they think other people shouldn't want.

I saw a Murano Crosscabriolet once and I seriously needed to change my pants...

Because I shit them.

Agreed. I will never drive a Lexus IS or ES and I very much dislike the company's image and pretense. But I recognize that they're pretty decent and competitive cars. and understand why they sell well. I think as long as I'm able to do that, justifying my most hated car rationally, then I haven't lost sanity.

The ignorance was on both sides in that post though.

Saying it revolutionized the performance car industry or whatever that guy said is quite the stretch.

Ey. President of the X6, ZDX, Crosstour Club here.

For some reason I kind of like the X6 because of the X6M mainly for how ridiculous it is, the ZDX because I have had moments where it looks good if it has the rear wing thing and side steps because it looks lower and chunkier. And the Crosstour because I felt it was a good utility car, like ground clearance, Honda reliability, somewhat decent storage.

But yes, the Murano Cross Cabriolet shall stay having no fans.

As one of the RWD fanboys on here I feel like I should speak up.

I need to firstly say I understand the benefits to FWD, I just don't need interior space or efficiency at this point in my life. But I think we all can agree FWD does have a power limit to which it can handle. Hell my cars haven't even been that powerful, I just prefer to feel power oversteer often.

I don't need to test drive a Civic SI to know I wouldn't prefer it to my car, because every other day or so, during the snowy months I drift my car.

Just my 2 cents.

Yea, see, I have no issues with what you just said. But when someone starts shitting on FWD or whatever else just because they prefer something else... that's where I draw the line. Thanks for your words, mate.

There is only one tech I am totally against right now. I don't hate on cars that are FWD/AWD or cars that don't have a stick. As long as they are good cars I'm fine with whatever tech they use.

The one thing I absolutely hate the idea of is steer by wire.

I can accept drive by wire. I can begrudgingly accept electric power assist steering in some situations.

But I just can't accept steer by wire. I like it when my steering wheel is directly connected to the car's steering. I don't want a computer to read my steering inputs and tell the car how much to steer.

When it comes to steer by wire I am very "get off my lawn", lol.

Fail Wheel Drive. Glad I've never owned one, hope I never will. It's not bad or wrong, it's just wrong for me. But I also place multiple aspects above economy and space. And it's my opinion, which means no one should be affected by it.

Indeed, nice WS-6 already command a premium with the current "omg last of the malaise, mullet-mobile" reputation it has now. I certainly don't need it to become a Barrett Jackson candidate just yet, at that point it just becomes another "if I win the lottery some day"-car.

Kinja'd!!! crowmolly > Fuel_of_Satan

I wouldn't put any car built after, say, the mid-80s into the "malaise" era. Not even close.

Kinja'd!!! Fuel_of_Satan > crowmolly
02/09/2014 at 09:22

Kinja'd!!!0

You wouldn't. I wouldn't. But a lot of people see this as one of the last remains of the malaise era with a lack of power, surplus of weight and complete lack of build quality.

But seeing that you're so set on disproving that I guess you already got yours?

Kinja'd!!! crowmolly > Fuel_of_Satan

Kinja'd!!!0

Nope! Had an LT1 car and have a lot of friends who run the LS1s. When money allows I'm doing an engine swap on my project car to a Gen III, not sure which version though.

I just bristle at the fact that they get a bad rep just for being American and not an import. Gotta give credit where credit is due, you know? It's shit because it's American or it's shit because it's GM is being very short-sighted.

Kinja'd!!! Fuel_of_Satan > crowmolly
02/09/2014 at 09:44

Kinja'd!!!0

I usually give it credit, but I never argue with those that don't. Let them spread the evil message and keep the desirability down for a while longer. There weren't many imports around at the time that could match these, even fewer at the same price and none could do it stock.

There was more competition a few years later though, enough to make GM resurrect the F-body, and that's the trap this thing falls into. Its being compared to newer cars in a time period where power increased hugely in a short time. A lot happened in the power department during the years they weren't making them. The current most powerful 'Maro has damn near twice the power after all and there's just 15 years between them.
